OUR STORY
Meet Ellie
I'm passionate about helping people reconnect with their bodies, trust their intuition, and remember just how capable they truly are.
That comes from my own lived experience. Growing up, I competed internationally in sailing as part of a team, spending years learning to trust my body and work in connection with others. It was a time that shaped a deep sense of awareness, resilience, and trust.
Then everything changed.
After years of illness, I was diagnosed with both appendicitis and endometriosis. I spent over a year in a wheelchair, navigating a body that no longer felt familiar and a future that looked very different from the one I had imagined.
When my appendix was finally removed, I thought recovery would be straightforward. Instead, I found myself learning how to live in a new body and rebuilding my relationship with myself from the ground up.
Meditation found me first, then came restorative yoga and breathwork.
What started as gentle movement and online meditation videos became something far more personal for me. During my illness, I often felt helpless, out of control and lost. Meditation and yoga became the practice that helped me reconnect with my voice, rebuild my inner strength, and slowly return to myself after years of hardship.
Yoga gave me a way to listen to my body rather than fight it. It taught me patience when I wanted progress, compassion when I felt frustrated, and trust when everything felt uncertain.
That practice became the beginning of something far more profound: a reconnection with my body and my intuition. Over time, I began to feel more at home within myself again, and to understand wellbeing not as something external to achieve, but something internal to return to.
As my practice grew, so did my curiosity. I wanted to understand where yoga came from and why it had such a profound impact on my life. That journey led me to Nepal, where I completed my yoga teacher training.
It was there, over conversations, cups of tea, and a napkin covered in ideas, that Yogability was born.
The name came from a simple belief:
That we are all capable of more than we think.
That challenges do not define us.
And that with the right support, patience, and self-belief, we can overcome obstacles and achieve things that once felt impossible both on and off the mat.
Together, Steve and I created Yogability with a shared intention: to help people reconnect with themselves through movement, mindfulness, and wellbeing. We wanted to create a space where everybody feels welcome, supported, and empowered to explore what their body is capable of.
Today, I support people through Yoga, Pilates, Retreats, Tibetan sound healing, Holistic therapies, Massage and Menstrual Wellness Coaching.
At the heart of everything I do is a passion for helping people reconnect with their bodies, trust their intuition, and build a deeper sense of wellbeing from within.
Yoga didn't teach me how to become somebody else. It helped me come home to myself and I believe everybody deserves the opportunity to do the same.
Meet Steve
For much of my life, I struggled with confidence and self-belief.Born with one hand, I often found myself comparing my abilities to others and focusing on what I couldn't do, rather than recognising everything I was capable of. Alongside this, I faced ongoing challenges with my mental health and spent many years feeling disconnected from myself.By my late twenties, I knew something needed to change. My partner, Ellie, encouraged me to attend yoga teacher training. To be honest, I wasn't convinced it was for me. I wasn't particularly fit, I'd struggled with my weight, and yoga didn't seem like something I would naturally gravitate towards but what I discovered surprised me.Yoga didn't just improve my physical health; it transformed the way I viewed myself. It taught me self-compassion, resilience, and confidence. It helped me move away from a mindset of limitation and towards one of possibility. For the first time in a long time, I felt hopeful about the future. The more I practised, the more I realised that movement has the power to change lives not because it makes us different, but because it helps us reconnect with who we are.During my training and travels, I noticed that many classes weren't designed with adaptation in mind. Having one hand, I was often expected to figure things out for myself, and I knew others would be facing similar barriers. That's when the vision for Yogability began to take shape.Together, Ellie and I created Yogability with a simple belief:That movement should be accessible, adaptable, and empowering. That everybody deserves the opportunity to experience the benefits of yoga and Pilates, regardless of age, ability, experience, or background. Today, we help people improve their physical wellbeing, manage stress, build confidence, and reconnect with themselves through movement. For years, I saw having one hand as my greatest limitation, I now see is one of my greatest strengths. It taught me resilience, adaptability, and the belief that our challenges whether physical or mental, do not define what we're capable of achieving.Today, Steve teaches yoga and Pilates, works as a school educator, and speaks publicly on wellbeing and resilience. He is passionate about helping people feel more confident in their bodies and more connected to their own potential. Whether in the studio, the classroom, or on stage, his focus is on showing that movement and wellbeing are accessible to everyone. His journey continues to be guided by the belief that our challenges do not define us they shape how we grow through them.
